Uber Eats is an American Online food ordering app which was launched by Uber in August 2014. The founders of Uber Eats are Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp. In 2014, Uber Eats app was launched with the name of Uber Fresh service in Santa Monica, California then in 2015 the name of Uber fresh was renamed Uber eats. By using the Uber Eats app customers can easily read menus, gave orders and pay for food. Customers can also add tips for delivery. Uber eats has a great impact on hotel industry as Uber Eats helps to run the restaurant in the hotels, but there are also some advantages as well as disadvantages of Uber Eats.
If anything is famous in world then after some time cracks begin
to appear in their popular economy. Similarly, this is going to happen with Uber
eats. As I found that one Syrian restaurant in Sydney “Almond Bar” now going to
close their service on Uber Eats because they said it effects their restaurant economy,
food quality and it also effect their dining &hospitality services which
they specially provide in their restaurant.
Restaurant Economy: “The
33% of commission they take has eaten into our cashflow significantly and is no
longer sustainable. It is way more than our profit.”
Food quality: They said that when
the food is delivered from their restaurant to customers it would take time and
food is served in a container, whereas if they serve the same the food in their
restaurant they serve it very nicely in plates and also offer drinks, but when
the food is delivered sometimes it gets cold and people don’t enjoy that kind
of food. On the other hand, if they serve in restaurant, they serve it hot
which special garnish which they are not able to provide while delivering their
food. Therefore, these are the reasons effect their food quality and diminish the
value of taste of food.
Dinning and hospitality services: The
hospitality is completely blocked because of delivery system.They said, they are known for their food and hospitality which they provide at
their restaurant. If I said about their dinning service, they don’t want their
customers get any kind of feeling like they have to compromise with their
dining experience. This is the reason that how Uber Eats effect the restaurant industry.
Uber had ‘promoted’ employees to Uber Eats just last week, and now, their jobs are gone
Uber Eats sold its all business in India to Zomato company which affect to their employment status of 245 employees who lost their job just in a week. Another employee who moved to Uber Eats last month was requesting to Uber to get him back in his old position but he was informed that it was not possible.Whereas, some employees said that they have to apply like outsiders but they are insiders. Apart from that, Uber is providing them different fields in company to join and they are also offering them to reapply.

Uber eats also has a good impact on hospitality industry such as restaurants and hotels. In the past it was not easy to get food faster as compared to today. Nowadays people can order food so quickly by using the Uber Eats app on their phones or other devices. They can order in a few minutes and they do not need to wait for a long time. By using uber eats apps, they can get their food very shortly. Moreover, nowadays everyone is busy in their work or other household chores, so it becomes easy to buy food from any favorite restaurant rather than to go there. Sometimes , the restaurants are really busy for takeout or dine in, so people do not need to worry about the waiting time as well and they can order the same food from home. For example, when they come back home from work or if they don’t want to prepare food, then they order their food quickly.
In addition to this, Uber Eats is cheaper than other delivery companies such as Skip the dishes or Doordash and the application is very easy to use. People also able to see the driver’s location, name and contact information and how much time it will take to driver arrive at their home.

One major advantage of Uber Eats is definitely its convenience because it eliminates the need for walking and driving considering the deliver fee is very cheap. It also allows you to located new restaurants you've never heard of before, so it really adds more options. Some disadvantages of Uber Eats from my personal experience is the long deliver times. There were times were my order wouldn't arrive till like after an hour and i had to keep contacting the driver for my order to follow up.

DeleteI believe there are number of benefits of using Uber Eats like sometimes people are too tired because of their work and they do not want to travel or cook the food in their home at that time they can order their favorite food on Uber Eats and can save their time also. Moreover , I order number of times on Uber Eats and I like their service. Its become the way of employment also as people contract with this company for delivery and people are earning good money by this. For me Uber eats is very good company and i know the number of local restaurant because of uber eats.

ReplyDeletewell !! i am afraid i don't agree with your point because if it doesn't serve fresh and hot then it wouldn't get that much success. Moreover, restaurants do not sell their products to delivery companies, instead delivery companies are inter mediators who work on commission. Ubereats help working individuals who dont have time to go to restaurants and yes people who have time and want some outing do go in restaurants.

Yes, sometimes restaurants take time to prepare their food or sometimes drivers stuck in their traffic but if people have called to uber eats then I think they will figure out it and deliver the food if it is sill fresh or hot.

I think it is a big loss that they sold all of their businesses in India to the Zomato company. Uber itself has become a well-known business, not just in the ride-sharing industry, but also in a known food-delivery platform. Uber Eats was one of the fastest-growing markets in India, that's why I think it is not a great idea that as mentioned above, Uber Eats sold Uber Eats India to the Zomato company.

Selling Ubereats to Zomato in India was a strategic decision. In India, Zomato has huge market share and have dominant edge against other companies . Unfortunately, Ubereats didn't get success there and was in loss .so, they didn,t have any other choice but still if they could continue and agree to invest in more innovative marketing strategies , they might get success there too.

ReplyDeleteI do think that Uber is doing exceptional job in business. They have a great impact on travel industry as well. For example, we often get tired after travel hole day and we just want to get food in the door and its became possible because of Uber. Though sometimes it take more time then usual but its rare. So, I my opinion Uber is doing pretty good job in delivering food service and hospitality and travel industry .

ReplyDeleteConvenience wise, Uber Eats does a pretty good job for people who needs food but doesn’t want to spend time going to restaurants to wait or stand in overgrown lines. As to my personal experience, I was very happy that Uber Eats existed because there are food that I am craving from specific restaurants that doesn’t have delivery services. And as Uber Eats partnered with such restaurants, I can now eat food without going to drive and sit down on that restaurant to have them. Although on the other hand, there are two down side for me when talking about Uber Eats; one is the delivery waiting time which I had a couple of bad experiences ( waited more than an hour or more) and the other one was limited coupon applicable. But overall, I think Uber Eats does a good job as a link between people and restaurants.

I think Uber eats' food is well done, although sometimes the food may change Cold, but Uber eats saves people a lot of time. As mentioned in the article, when people are busy working, they have no time to cook and have no time to eat in the restaurant. Uber eats will be very good for them. I believe that Uber eats is on of the main benefits in catering services and Hospitality industry. There was a time when people have to circle an entire city for finding a good restaurant. But Uber eats made that life into a much easier one by bringing all of it into our fingertip.
